Rowling was a struggling single mother when she wrote the beginning of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, on scraps of paper at a local cafe. One day after finishing the last book that I had for myself to read, I decided to see what all the Harry Potter fuss was about, and I was quite shocked.
