Not prepared to have his family put at risk he realises the only way to protect them is to join the fight. When the son of millionaire Tom Mullen ( Gibson ) is kidnapped he decides to take the law into his own hands rather than follow the advice of the police. Playing the kidnappers at their own game is a risky business and Tom puts the life of his child and his marriage on the line to do things his way.
