He first came to be noticed in Mad Max , then went to Hollywood in 1984 with an impressive debut Mutiny on the Bounty . The Lethal Weapon films are essential viewing for any Mel or action movie fan. Other Screen Hunks... ...Arnold Schwarzenegger ...Sylvester Stallone ...Bruce Willis ...Tom Cruise ...Harrison Ford ...Sean Connery ...Richard Gere ...Cary Grant ...Brad Pitt Lethal Weapon Riggs and Murtaugh battle it out against the baddies and each other in the first film of four in this comedy adventure series. Riggs' death wish mellows slightly as he gets to know his partner Murtaugh and his family but it doesn't stop him using guerilla tactics to catch the criminals and it seems Rigg's antics might mean that 50 year old Murtaugh just can't keep up. This Director's Cut edition features seven minutes of previously unavailable scenes. Back to top Lethal Weapon 2 Second time around and Riggs and Murtaugh are on the trail of a South African Diplomat, with the excellent Joe Pesci thrown in for good measure. The booby trapped toilet seat is a classic! Over four minutes are added to the original in this Director's Cut edition. Back to top Lethal Weapon 3 With Murtaugh days away from retirement Riggs manages to get them both in trouble with the LAPD whilst on the trail of some gangsters selling armour-piercing bullets. Some love intertest is injected into the mix this time around with Rene Russo falling for Riggs. 3 minutes of extra footage are added for this Director's Cut edition. Back to top Lethal Weapon 4 Part 4 is definately more of a family affair with Murtaugh about to become a Grandad and Riggs about to become a father. Jet Li stars as the Chinese mafia gangster smuggling people onto the mainland. Chris Rock and Joe Pesci are on hand to inject even more humour into this winning formula. Back to top Braveheart William Wallace ( Gibson ) is medieval Scottish patriot spurred into action against the occupying England after his wife's is brutally murdered and leads Scotland to full scale revolt. This historical epic is fantastic and it's worth noting that ( Gibson ) won Best Director at the Oscars for his efforts behind the camera. Back to top We Were Soldiers The story of one of the most savage and the first battles the US faced during the Vietnam war. ( Gibson ) is Lt. Col Hal Moore and has to lead his regiment of 400 men when they land in a valley surrounded by 2000 north Vietnamese soldiers. Lots of action and epic war drama. Back to top What Women Want Romantic comedy in which ( Mel Gibson ) plays advertising exec Nick Marshall who, following a freak accident, is suddenly able to read women's minds. Whilst he has lots of fun along the way trying to outwit his female boss ( Helen Hunt ), he eventually realises that he is falling in love with her. Back to top Ransom A stunning performance by Mel Gibson is what makes this thriller top notch. When the son of millionaire Tom Mullen ( Gibson ) is kidnapped he decides to take the law into his own hands rather than follow the advice of the police. Playing the kidnappers at their own game is a risky business and Tom puts the life of his child and his marriage on the line to do things his way.
