As a prisoner in 2035 Cole is offered parole in return to travelling back in time to 1996 to save the earth from a devastating plague. The first attempt fails and Cole is returned to 1990 and promptly locked in a mental institution but the second attempt is successful and Cole must decipher what is real and what is not in order to save the population.
