Perhaps because they were not well established as a double act before their television series, Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbet t worked together in a way that was very different from most double-acts; theirs was not a straight-man versus funny-man relationship, but rather they swapped personas from sketch to sketch, and acted within sketches with total versatility. They were, how erver, distinctive TWO RONNIES characters; shop-keepers, cilvil servants, workmen and strange middle-class party guests, as well as regularly occurring sketch formats (For example, the newsreader sketches which opened and closed each programme, Ronnie Cor bett`s armchair monologues, and the big musical numbers).
