Our Price: $34.95 Our Sale Price: $24.46 Savings: $10.49 (30%) Edition Details : Signed Edition | ISBN: 0999295845 Published: September 2002 | From the Publisher It’s the deadliest combination going: bullies who get what they want from their target, bullied kids who are afraid to tell, bystanders who either watch, participate, or look away, and adults who see the incidents as simply “teasing” and a normal part of childhood. We have only to look to the headlines to understand that this is a recipe for tragedy. Some bullying victims, their cries unheard, have fought back with violence that has devastated entire communities; others have committed suicide; many more suffer in silence, their lives a constant round of emotional and physical pain. In The Bully, the Bullied and the Bystander, Barbara Coloroso gives parents, caregivers, educators—and most of all, kids—the tools to break the cycle of violence. • The Bully—what bullying is and isn’t: the differences and similarities between boy and girl bullies; the short- and long-term impact on the bully • The Bullied—who he/she is: when the bullied becomes the bully • The Bystander—peer, sibling or adult: how bystanders can be peacemakers • The Home—how families encourage children to become bullies, or compassionate people • The Solution—the difference between punishment, rescuing and discipline; how reconciliatory justice works; creating opportunities to “do good”; helping children to develop a code of compassion • Schools—how they can teach “the fourth R”: relationships • Communities—community-wide solutions that work Drawing on her decades of work with troubled youth, and her wide experience in the areas of conflict resolution and reconciliatory justice, Coloroso offers a compassionate and practical guide that is destined to become a groundbreaking reference on the subject of bullying. About the Author Barbara Coloroso is an internationally recognized speaker and author in the areas of parenting, teaching, school discipline, non- violent conflict resolution, reconciliatory justice, and grieving. She is a weekly contributor on Canada AM and has spoken to audiences across the country. Her bestsellers include Kids Are Worth It!: Giving Your Child the Gift of Inner Discipline and Parenting Through Crisis: Helping Kids in Times of Loss, Grief and Change. Amazon Canada - Always the best prices!

The Seattle Times, August 03, 2002: Toronto - Indigo Books & Music and a group representing Canada's independent booksellers said they will challenge in court a government decision letting Amazon.com set up a Canadian Web site. Indigo, Canada's largest book chain, and the Canadian Booksellers Association said Amazon.com has violated rules that bar non-Canadians from controlling bookstores. Seattle-based Amazon.com is paying Assured Logistics, a unit of government-owned Canada Post, to run a Toronto-area warehouse and deliver books, music and movies ordered through the month-old Canadian site, Amazon.ca. That way, Amazon doesn't operate a bookstore in Canada. "The Heritage Department has confirmed Amazon.ca is operating in accordance with Canadian laws," said company spokeswoman Kristin Schaefer.
